Vocabulary Parade

It's almost time for a "dress-up" day at WT...exciting. The 2nd annual vocab parade will be on Friday, October 29th. The assembly will begin at 2:00 and will last an hour. Have room parents set up a treat for your kids after the assembly. Remember that the vocab dress-up, treat and assembly are in lieu of Halloween parties and costumes; be sure to stress this with the kids and room parents. You will have a letter in your mailbox by Monday 10/11 to send home. This is also the day to read the book, Miss Alaineus. Help your students to come up with a great word that is appropriate for your grade level and they should work on their costume at home. Also, teachers should start thinking of words too. The kids love to see what we come up with and how we're going to dress-up.

School Cultures Update...

Hello "Excellent" W-T Friends -

A few of the school cutlures committee members met today up at school in the conference room (it is fantastic)!  I wanted to give you all an update on what was discussed and some pieces of information.
First, we will no longer be using the links.  We will be using cotton pom-poms and we will fill the jars from last year with those.  The children will earn the pom-poms by following the bobcat pledge.  Once the jar is filled we will have rewards for the classroom.  We are working on figuring out the specifics of this and we will let you know once decisions have been made.

One of the new things we will do this year is have "Bucket Buddies."  Each classroom will have another grade level classroom to meet with monthly to discuss a specific topic.  We wanted to get out the Bucket Buddy list to everyone and the weeks we will be meeting so we can get that onto our calendars.
Stahl - Hollatz (AM) & Coleman (PM)
Todd - Matheny (AM)
Reno - Robinson
Walsh - Washington
Wright - Boedker
Sweeney - Sunderman
Birrer - Beatty
Bruns - Coyne
Shreve - Welp

You will meet with your Bucket Buddy during the weeks of and complete and activity/discussion/read aloud/etc for the topic of the month:
9/27 - Friendship / Bully
10/25 - Review Rules & Procedures
11/22 - Respect / STAR
12/20 - Kindness / Consideration
1/24 - Characteristics of a Good Bobcat
2/21 - Bystander Role
3/28 - Responsibility
4/25 - Cooperation
5/16 - Pride

We will have four assemblies throughout the year and we are going to rotate them in the morning and the afternoon; therefore, the same class is not missed for grade levels.  Judy is checking into some great options for us.

The refocus forms will be staying the same for Grades 2-5; however, we are working on changing the forms for grades K and 1.  We are also working on the consequence piece to refocuses.  We will have that for everyone too once we finalize it.

I am sure I will post more throughout the summer as we finalize other pieces as we get ready for the big opening of our EXCELLENT building!

I hope everyone is having an EXCELLENT summer...
Joe
